Environmental Studies

Environmental Studies consisted from Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies and Agriculture is conducting interdisciplinary practical research and education to contribute to the improvement of environmental problems. To achieve a goal to solving multi-scale environmental issues all over the world, we are encouraging international collaboration research and education programs with oversea Universities to develop environmental technologies and to understand logics, institutions, nature and culture through the learning with international view points to develop human capability to contribute to the society in the world.

Accomplishments

Graduate school of Global Environmental Studies has been awarded for new environmental technologies and the accumulation of knowledge from academic communities and various industries such as, JSPS Prize (Katsumi), Japan Water Prize (Kobayashi, Harada and Fujieda), The Hitachi Environment Foundation, Environmental Award (Shinjo), MEXT Prize for Science and Technology (Katsumi and Inui), Nikkei Global Environmental Technology Award (Shinjo) and Daiwa Adrian Prize (Kawasaki) during the last 10 years. In education, the international double degree program has been implementing since 2013.

Education and activities for students

Graduate school of global environmental studies provide various international program with the public and private sectors via internship, short term study abroad program, seminar and field studies. So far (from 2002 to 2014), 144 students have conducted oversea internship in 42 countries, and many field studies and seminars have implemented at various regions in Japan.
